Church School

The aim of education in the Orthodox Church is to nurture, instruct, and direct each member of the community of faith – the Church – in Christian living, or as Orthodox writers typically call it, the life in Christ, so that each person grows ‘in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’ (2 Peter 3:18) and become ‘a partaker of the divine nature’ (2 Peter 1:4).

The Church School year begins on the first Sunday in September after Labor Day weekend.  The last Sunday of Church School is the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend in May.  New students are welcome to join at any time.  Class usually begins after the distribution of Holy Communion during the Divine Liturgy and continues until 11:45 am.

The classes are:  PreK (at least 3 years old by September 1); Kindergarten; 1st-2nd Grade; 3rd-4th Grade; 5th-6th Grade; 7th-8th Grade; 9th-10th Grade; and 11th-12th Grade.
