DAY ONE

After arriving late the previous evening, Day 1 started bright and early. After Orthros we were fortunate enough to meet with members of the congregation and learn more about the church and what work needed to be completed.

We spent our morning removing wax from the pews and applying a layer of oil to help bring shine back to the wood. Outside, weeds were pulled and trees were trimmed to provide some overgrowth maintenance to the front of the church. Results were already beginning to show, bringing excitement for the days to come.

Midday, we paused for a Jimmy John’s lunch break before starting back up again cleaning the church.

After our first day of service, we enjoyed a relaxing evening at the Coalwood Lodge where we were able to regroup and make a game plan for Day 2.
